Targeted Areas - Repeat Homebuyers
A Targeted Area is a qualified census tract or an area of chronic economic distress as designated by the IRS. A Targeted Area may be an entire county or may be a particular census tract within a county. The Targeted Area designation is important for two reasons:
- The first time homebuyer requirement does not apply in Targeted Areas.
- THDA is required to use or set aside a portion of the proceeds from each bond issue for loans in Targeted Areas.

Counties with Targeted Census Tracts
There are areas within the following counties, known as census tracts, where repeat homebuyers can qualify for the Great Choice Loan Program. An interactive map is available which you can search specific addresses to see if they fall within qualified census tracts.

Targeted Counties are shown as solid blue. Targeted Census Tracts are shown as a lighter blue area within a county.
- To find where targeted tracts are located, click on the small blue area. A box will appear with tract information. Click on "Zoom to" to magnify the area and see the location at street level.
- To look up a specific address on the map, type the address in the search bar in the upper right hand corner. The search result will show on the map and if the area is blue, the address is in a targeted area. If the area is green, the address is not in a targeted area.
