JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2026) – The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) awarded Jefferson City Housing Authority (JCHA) $387,650 on Wednesday, September 9 through the Tennessee Housing Trust Fund (THTF). The funding will support the construction of the Sycamore Duplex, a permanent housing development serving people with physical, mental or emotional disabilities in Jefferson County.
“Accessible, affordable housing is needed now more than ever for communities like Jefferson City, as there is a significant shortage of housing options,” said Ralph M. Perrey, executive director of THDA. “Supporting JCHA in the construction of Sycamore Duplex will address this gap and is an important step towards creating a better, safer future for families in Tennessee.”
The duplex will consist of one three-bedroom unit and one two-bedroom unit designed to accommodate unique needs for individuals living with disabilities and their families. The new construction will ultimately help to address the growing need for affordable housing options for people with disabilities, while providing them with independence through accessible design features.
“This THDA grant provides the additional funding needed to build a new duplex. This project provides needed mobility units for our community,” said Michele Murph, executive director of JCHA. “Jefferson City Housing Authority would not be able to build at this time without this grant. JCHA’s mission is to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing for eligible families and seniors.”
THDA awards THTF grants to non-profit partners for projects that develop or preserve rental housing for low and very low-income households, the elderly and individuals with special needs. Funding for THTF grants is generated from revenue earned through THDA’s Great Choice mortgage program.
