August 18, 2020 - THDA recently joined Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment Authority developers and community leaders to cut the ribbon on Magnolia Pointe Apartments in Kingsport. The apartments were renovated with the help of funding from THDA, including a National Housing Trust Fund grant, tax-exempt bonds, and low-income housing credits. The renovation is part of a larger effort by KHRA to completely overhaul the city’s aging public housing properties. In addition to Magnolia Pointe, KHRA is also remodeling and rehabilitating Cloud Apartments, Holly Hills, Tiffany Court and Charlemont Place. Like Magnolia Pointe, those sites would receive infrastructure improvements, new plumbing and electrical, along with interior upgrades, such as new flooring, bathrooms, paint and interior surfaces.
