THDA Awards $1.5 million to Revitalize Neighborhoods in Ripley, TN
Oct. 26, 2022 – The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) awarded Ripley Housing Authority with a $1.5 million check from the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) grant.
The NHTF money will be used for Chapel, an apartment complex overseen by the Ripley Housing Authority. RHA will spend the money on the rehabilitation and revitalization of Chapel through energy saving initiatives, neighborhood transformation, and updating the individual needs of each unit.
RHA’s Executive Director Justin Jones, Mayor of Ripley Craig Fitzhugh, Dr. Claudia Joplin (Vice Chairwoman for RHA), and Don Ammons (Commissioner) accepted the check.
“This money will make a huge impact on Ripley, Tennessee” stated Jones. “We are so grateful for the support from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency”.
Tennessee Housing Development Agency administers the federally funded National Housing Trust Fund which is designed for the production and preservation of affordable rental housing through the acquisition, new construction, or rehabilitation of affordable housing for households with extremely low incomes.
“The grant money given from our National Housing Trust Fund is meant for the revitalization of neighborhoods just like what Ripley Housing Authority provides,” said THDA Executive Director Ralph Perrey. “Having access to safe, decent, affordable housing is more important than ever, and the National Housing Trust Fund ensures units like that will be revitalized to help those who need it most.”
