Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions (TDFI) – The Consumer Resources division has provided technical information to homeowners, urging those with adjustable rate mortgages to plan now for potential interest rate increases. TDFI has also made recommendations to lenders that they regulate that provide ARMs and other non-traditional lending products.

FHASecure – Refinance option designed specifically for conventional and subprime borrowers who default on their mortgages solely because they can no longer afford the payments on their ARM loan after the interest resets to a higher rate.

HOPE NOW Alliance – Led by the Dept. of the Treasury and HUD - a coalition of lenders, housing and credit counselors, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and many industry trade organizations including the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Financial Services Roundtable.

Fair Housing Alliance of Greater Memphis – conducted a mini conference in Memphis on October 10, 2007 which dealt with the impact of and alternatives to predatory lending. OCC Consumer Tips for Avoiding Foreclosure Rescue Scams - Foreclosures are increasing nationwide, and so are scams that promise to “rescue” homeowners from foreclosure. What these scams do is take your money, ruin your credit record, and wipe out any equity you have in your home.

NeighborWorks® America – has provided training to certify counselors in Foreclosure counseling. They have developed PSAs to air across the country to raise awareness about foreclosure prevention, administering federal funds for foreclosure counseling. THDA received $1.3 million.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) – Has committed to helping conduct foreclosure prevention workshops for housing professionals. HUD is a leader in the HOPE NOW Alliance (see above).

Home Loan Learning Center, MBAssociation - MBA and its members actively fight against predatory lending. Lending practices that strip equity away from homeowners or place them in financial hardship are considered abusive and predatory. Avoid becoming a victim by learning how to identify the types of abusive lending practices, scams or other questionable business practices that predatory lenders use.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta - The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is part of the central bank of the United States. The Federal Reserve System - the Fed, as it is often called - consists of twelve Reserve Banks located around the country and the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C

Federal Reserve Bank – has provided guidance to loan servicers, encouraging them to look at workout options for troubled borrowers.
