Room to work, grow, and thrive - affordably
Bridget Chambers and her boyfriend, Chris Allen, needed more room for their growing family.
The couple, and their two boys ages two and four, were living with her family in her hometown of Oneida. While they appreciated her parents letting them stay there, the needed more space, more room to grow.
Thankfully for Bridget and her family, Bear Creek Apartments located in Oneida had just opened. Built by developer David Hayes with the help of Low-Income Tax Credits from THDA.
The apartments feature a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as a pool and a playground for children.
Chambers said it was the perfect fit for her family.
While Chris works a short 15-minute commute away, her job requires her to work from home on second shifts.
Having more square footage, and a place to work undisturbed, has been beneficial, she said.
Chambers said her children are also loving their new space, and now have plenty of room to play and for their toys. They’re also learning how to take care and clean up their home, something she said is important for them to be responsible for.
In addition to having more space to live, Chambers also praised the community-like atmosphere of Bear Creek Apartments and the responsiveness of the property manager and staff.
Cost is a major reason Chambers and her family are able to thrive at Bear Creek Apartments. Since tax credits were used to help funding construction of the apartments, Hayes committed to keeping rent below market rates for a minimum of 20 years. For families like Chambers, that means they can afford to live in a nice apartment they would not otherwise be able to afford.
